What do the widths mean?
We stock our shoes in a range of widths to cater to a wide and varied range of customers.
For Men a D width is standard, 2E is wide and 4E is extra wide.
For Women a B is a standard width, D will be wide fit and 2E extra wide and a 2A is a narrow width.
What does neutral, moderate and Motion Control mean?
Neutral, Moderate and Motion Control are the levels of support we categorise our footwear offerings by.
Within these groupings there are a myriad of features that differentiate each shoe and make them unique – but this is how we begin to break down the range to work out which shoe will best meet your needs.
Neutral shoes are essentially made for people who have a neutral foot type. This means that during the gait cycle there is not any excessive rolling in (overpronation) or rolling out (supination) and the Achilles tendon remains relatively straight and aligned as you move forward.
A neutral shoe has limited stabilising features and allows the foot to flex and move without extra guidance. This type of shoe is also suitable for 'supinators' who tend to put more pressure through the outside of their foot whilst walking or running.
Moderate supportive shoes are developed for people who tend pronate or 'roll in' past the point of neutral. These shoes are designed with extra stability through the midsole specifically where your arch sits that encourages the foot to remain in a neutral position
Motion control shoes are designed for people who are severe over-pronators, meaning the feet tend to roll inwards excessively during the gait cycle. These shoes are often heavier and provide maximum support through the arch and rear-foot to encourage a more neutral alignment.
